Incredible, aye? Particularly as the Bluemotion is not yet fully run in, with the tight engine not yet showing 4-figure miles. Just to prove it, too, here’s some more readings from the trip computer – the travel time:

It was even better than this, though. The economy actually dropped as I battled the last 15 miles through city traffic. Just as I left the motorway, I recorded the maximum economy. Which was:
Yes indeed! The 95mpg Golf diesel! And genuinely, although I was capped to a speed just faster than trucks, I wasn’t doing anything overtly eco-obsessive. I even had the air con on, because of the scorching weather.
It’s already got me thinking, though: how good is this Golf going to be when fully run in? Give me a month or so, and I’ll let you know…
